Magic started as Magic: The Gathering #3 and went from there. The game grew from there until Magic: The Gathering officially entered full production in 1996. The current story:

Magic is a free-to-play, web-based video gaming device, created by Gary Gygax (creator of Dungeons & Dragons, one of the major video gaming systems of all time).
