Czech company Krylon, the world’s largest producer of household and office-supply products has been called the “king of bathroom scents”. The company was initially founded in 1970 to make a liquid spray pigment so it could be used to apply wax for glazes. More recently, Krylon has made its way into the kitchen, where it has been used to adorn dishes, cookware, cutlery and more.
It was in 1978 that Krylon developed a spray with a highly concentrated essence of essential oil that is found in aniseed and citrus fruit. By mixing it with a water solution and spray-drying it, Krylon is able to produce the most effective products. Now, Krylon produces a variety of products from liquid to stick and even food products. The company says that each Krylon product has “a unique fragrance, taste, scent, smell, colour and consistency”.
As a result of commercial success, the company has been expanding rapidly into the market for bathroom and household products. Krylon currently operates 40 facilities in the United States, and there are plans to add another 40 in the near future. According to the company, Krylon produces over 80 per cent of the country’s paint spray solutions, and a wide variety of food products in over 80 countries.
