Well, of course you do. It’s a lot easier to get down in the hole (and also the hole is much narrower than people think). It’s basically a lot easier to do a pole.

How many years have you been doing pole dancing?

I’ve been doing it for a lot longer than that. I started when I was really young. I didn’t really have a lot of friends because I was always on this group of kids on the block that would beat around here and there. I was always very shy and I did everything by myself. The first person I danced with was in seventh grade. Next to me was a kid from the block. Now I dance around with these different people all the time.

What kind of music does pole dance music like?

It really depends on what group you’re with. If you’re with a DJ you can hear music that’s very similar. They’d play a bunch of the same music and then the beat would change and then the music would change. So you’d know exactly what the DJ was like. But if you’re with another group, there’s not so much. In my experience, if you’re going with a DJ to show off to the group, there aren’t all that many different styles of music that are going to be playing in the room.

What do you do if you’re not going with a DJ.

I go out for a few hours every now and again and just do some dancing. I just walk around the block for a couple hours and then I go back up. You walk around and get hit on by a guy, or a girl, or a couple of other kids. That’s what I do. I know the kind of people I’m going to do it with. There was an old co-worker of mine who came to my house once or twice. He invited me to dance with him and I did it. It was really amazing because it was my first time doing it with someone. It was kind of a weird feeling.

What makes pole dancing fun?

Well, I’ve experienced the good and the bad. It’s fun to be able to dance around people you like when the music’s so cool. It’s a really cool feeling, and for people who aren’t dancing it’s just really easy to stay in your lane.
