[Laughs] Well, a lot of strong. And I have to be good at my weight.

You’ve made a habit out of pole dancing in the past, and you definitely got it down early. How long has the routine been in your brain?

It’s something I’ve been working on for a long time. I started pole dancing very young, in second grade. It’s something I was passionate about growing up. I remember going out to dance with my friends with my dad and getting scared. When I was about 10, it was the same thing. It made me very happy, and it helped me to feel comfortable in my body. It changed me in a positive way, to know it’s part of who I am. I really enjoy it, so I try to do it as often as I can.

How do you keep track of your performance level?

I have a timer. The only thing on my phone is when I’m at the gym. I keep track of my weight and time-in-the-ring. But I’m not very good at this — it’s not my best.

How did this particular act of strength come about?

I was practicing in the back of my car after going to a big dance competition. There were a lot of girls doing it that day. I was going to practice in the same place and then go back to the dance. It was like, OK, I’ll be back, you want to practice with me tomorrow. That was it. [Laughs] That was all it took!

Do you have any goals for the next year?

It’s hard to say. I love pole dancing and I enjoy it, so for this to come out of nowhere is hard. It’s all about having the mental strength to do it.
