Bryan Cranston may be best known for his work on “Breaking Bad,” “The Hangover” and “Breaking Bad: Chapter 2” — but he’s been trying his hand at acting since he was a little kid. Today the actor sat down with The Hollywood Reporter at the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival to discuss his early films, how he’s learned to use both his craft and acting professionally, and what he’d tell aspiring actors looking down the line into the industry.

The actor, who previously spoke with THR about the challenges he’s had in getting acting work, said that there is one thing he’s learned since his early days: “Don’t be afraid to work with people who are like ‘oh, you do the best, but I just don’t have the patience for that.’ I tell them, ‘You can work with me, I’m not judging you, I’m just giving you advice.’ There are some films that you make that you don’t even realize were good. They become big, huge tentpoles, with millions or three to ten years of success. And I’m like, ‘Well, I was just doing it in a garage for a while. Why am I not excited to do this?'”

Cranston also shared a bit about how he’s changed his body when going into roles. “It’s actually not so much having a really big butt, or being overweight, it’s this thing where you feel like the audience should feel like you and not like a robot who’s just following orders. It’s this whole thing that I’ve started, where I can feel if I am having the kind of success I really want, there will be more opportunities to be this thing that you should feel like you’re following. You have to get it right.”
