What are different types of drawing styles? – Drawing With Pencil Easy

A: There are two kinds, hand drawing and pen & paper drawing. Hand drawing is the technique of hand drawing or hand drawing in watercolour. This is most often found in the works of artists such as Jasper Johns, Roy Lichtenstein and Egon Schiele. Pen & paper drawing is a pen & paper drawing technique, whereby the outline, line and lines that compose some paintings are drawn using a traditional drawing pencil. The technique originated during the 19th and early 20th century, when a pencil was the only tool available to artists.

A: The differences between traditional and pen & paper techniques are the techniques of shading and outlining.

Traditional shading is when an artist uses white chalk to sketch the lines that make up the object. They then transfer the shadows to the clay and allow that to dry.

Pen & paper shading is when an artist uses a color pencil (or brush) to paint on each of the outlines (line). During the transfer process the paint is applied so evenly that each stroke has to be done in order to achieve the end result. Often, a small amount of the paint goes over the brush’s tip so that in total, not all of the paint runs back into the brush. Pen and paper shading is typically used for small things only (e.g. water lilies in many people’s pictures). This technique is commonly employed in art in the 19th and early 20th centuries.

Note: When drawing with hand-drawn inks, you might not always see the shadows transferred to the clay as described above. The shading of the ink is often a little “flatter” compared to traditional paint transfer.
